A Place to Breathe
Mountain View Ranch is more than a holiday destination, it’s a place where time slows down and the landscape does the talking. Nestled at the foot of the majestic Mount Lebanon in the Kamberg Valley of KwaZulu-Natal, the ranch sits on 24 hectares of unspoiled farmland, where the air is clean, the skies are wide, and the pace of life is set by nature.
The Little Mooi River winds quietly through the lower fields. Rescued horses and a friendly, breeding herd of Nguni cattle graze in the open pastures. Guinea fowl roam freely around the house, and on any given morning you might spot a secretary bird, crowned crane, or African wildcat passing through.
As evening falls, the farm takes on a different kind of magic – jackal, hares, and wild buck such as bushbuck and duiker are known to move quietly through the property, and baboons occasionally visit the orchard on the hillside, though they keep a respectful distance from the farmhouse.
The Ranch
Mountain View Ranch has been lovingly developed with families, friends, and groups in mind. The expansive lodge sleeps up to 14 guests comfortably, with a mix of queen and king bedrooms, a bunk room for the kids, wrap-around verandas, and generous shared living spaces that invite people to gather and linger.
The fully equipped farmhouse kitchen, cosy wood fireplace, built-in braai, outdoor pizza oven, and newly built boma and plunge pool mean there is always somewhere to settle in -whether that’s a lazy breakfast on the stoep, sundowners at the river, or a long evening around the fire under the stars.
Every detail has been considered to ensure guests feel at home from the moment they arrive.
The Kamberg Valley
The Kamberg Valley is one of KwaZulu-Natal’s best-kept secrets. Forming part of the greater Maloti-Drakensberg World Heritage Site, this region is celebrated for its dramatic mountain scenery, crystal-clear streams, rich birdlife, and ancient San rock art.
Highmore Nature Reserve lies just a few kilometres from the ranch, and the charming town of Nottingham Road, with its country pubs, craft shops, and Midlands Meander routes, is only a 20 minute drive away.
Whether you are here for fly fishing, mountain biking, hiking, horse trails, or simply doing nothing at all, Kamberg offers the kind of natural beauty that stays with you long after you’ve left.
How We Do Things
We care deeply about this land and ask our guests to share in that respect.
Mountain View Ranch is run as an eco-friendly property. We sort and recycle our waste, our water is safe to drink straight from the tap, and we ask guests to avoid single-use plastics wherever possible.
The farm is home to rescued animals and free-range livestock, and we believe that the best kind of holiday leaves nothing behind but footprints.
A daily cleaning service is provided, and our farm manageress Kirstin is on hand to welcome you, answer questions, and make sure your stay is everything you hoped for.
